Gig poster – Garden Ormanents

I did a set of gig posters, each based on a phone doodle. Then I did a version of each without the doodle¹ with more emphasis on the type. Both versions shown above.

How did I get from 1 to 2?

• Replaced the doodle with its erm… essence (although rounded the corners would have been more in keeping).
  I haven’t actually got rid of the doodle here.
• I could have kept the dotted line (or similar) to have something on the right to balance the text on the left. But I like the ‘tension’ of it being ‘unbalanced’.
• Swapped the bold emphasis on the text boxes. This seems to be the correct way round.
• Let geometry rule. The box is square and centred. The text blocks are aligned to lines linking the corners of the box to the page.
